Dr. Gamba joins the Aerospace Engineering department as Assistant Professor this Fall 2012. He recently held a post-doctoral fellow in the High Temperature Gasdynamics Laboratory at Stanford University accepting the Assistant Professor of Aerospace Engineering (Gas Dynamics) at the University of Michigan in 2012. He received his MSE in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin in 2003, the “Laurea” in Mechanical Engineering from Politecnico di Milano, Italy, in 2004, and his PhD in Aerospace Engineering from UT Austin in 2009. His studies primarily focus on turbulent non-premixed combustion, the application of high-repetition-rate laser-based flow diagnostic techniques for the study of reacting turbulent flows, and supersonic mixing and combustion for scramjet engine applications. Dr. Gamba will add to the Department’s expertise in high-speed flows, turbulence, combustion, experimental methods and advanced diagnostic techniques.
