Michigan in Space, the Consortium's annual newsletter, serves as a communication tool between consortium members, program participants, and interested individuals and institutions within Michigan and nationally. The publication reports activities of the consortium and related groups, announces upcoming programs, fellowship and program opportunities, and other resources available within the Consortium and NASA, as well as from other agencies and institutions. Michigan in Space is also used to publish reports from grant awardees and includes articles describing the programs funded through the Consortium.
The MSGC website is used as a communication tool to announce a variety of funding opportunities: the MSGC, NASA, and other agencies. The MSGC announcement/application fliers are available in PDF to print out. A calendar of events from meetings to K-12 Outreach activities is also accessible.
Hands-on lessons of science, mathematics, and engineering may also be printed out from the website. The objective of these hands-on lessons is to provide experimental, discovery-based, constructive learning, that incorporates community opportunities for education and career exploration. These simple lessons allow students and volunteers to teach with little preparation.
The annual Michigan Space Grant Consortium conference is held each fall at the University of Michigan on North Campus. This conference is an opportunity for the MSGC awardees to share their research experiences. We also invite non-MSGC supported individuals and groups from academia, industry, and the local community to share their experience and knowledge in aerospace, space science, and aeronautics.
The next conference is scheduled for Saturday, October 22, 2005.
